The City of Saint John is exploring a new extension of Harbour Passage, running from the intersection of Broad Street and Carmarthen Street toward Rockwood Park. We’re now inviting the community to learn more about the project and share feedback that will help shape the recommended concept plan.
About the project
This phase of work focuses on developing a conceptual design for the proposed extension. It includes reviewing and refining roadway cross sections for:
Broad Street
Crown Street
Mount Pleasant Avenue
The project team is also considering potential streetscape features—such as lighting, street furniture, and landscaping—to support a more welcoming and accessible public space.
The final recommended concept will include proposed phasing and high‑level cost estimates, which will help inform future detailed design and construction planning within upcoming Capital Programs.
Public information session
Residents are invited to attend an in‑person open house to review early concepts, ask questions, and share ideas with the project team.
Date: Thursday, February 12, 2026 Time: 3:00–7:00 p.m. (drop‑in) Location: Trinity Anglican Church, 115 Charlotte Street
Representatives from the City of Saint John, along with the design team from Englobe Corp. and UPLAND Planning & Design Studio, will be on hand to discuss the project and gather input.
Have your say
Community feedback is an important part of this process. We encourage you to attend the open house, review the concept materials, and share your comments to help shape this exciting city‑building initiative.

This project will extend from the intersection of Broad Street and Carmarthen Street to the entrance of Rockwood Park.
Designed to match the comfort and convenience of the current Harbour Passage trail, this extension will offer a safe, accessible, and enjoyable experience for people walking, running, cycling, and rolling.
The Harbour Passage extension will include:
· Upgraded pathways that are accessible for people of all ages and abilities
· Additional pedestrian lighting
· New rest plazas and refreshed landscaping
By extending the Harbour Passage multi-use trail, this project will create an important new link in the City’s Active Transportation Network while adding welcoming public spaces that are safe and accessible for people to move, gather, and enjoy.
