Main Street will be reduced from 6 lanes to 4 lanes available for vehicles with the space from the remaining two lanes converted to space for active transportation. This cross section shows the portion of the street with sidewalks on both sides, such as near Metcalf Street; in these locations two dedicated and protected bike lanes will be installed where the vehicle lanes used to be. In some locations along Main Street where sidewalks don’t exist, the reclaimed vehicle lane will become a Multi-Use Pathway available to both cyclists and pedestrians.
